Jim Nancekivell Bio for RLPOA Board Member

My wife Karen and I have owned property on the south end of Hinton Bay since 1994 and built a new home on an adjoining lot in 2002. We’ve raised two boys who hold fond childhood memories of growing up on the lake. They now enjoy sharing their childhood memories and traditions with their spouses. We spend most weekends here in Hayward where we enjoy mountain biking on the awesome CAMBA trail system and road biking on the quiet country roads. In winter we strap on our skinny skis and hit the Birkie and other area trails.

In the past 27 years this is the second time I have volunteered to serve on our lake board. I’m currently serving as co-chair of the AIS (aquatic invasive species) committee with my neighbor Dave Rutt. Concern over the growing milfoil problem and treatment strategies, I felt it was time to reengage. Funding for future milfoil control will be paramount due to limited funding of State grants and underfunding by lakeshore owners, so I hope those reading this bio will step up to support your RLPOA in funding the lake’s future invasive species control efforts.

In addition to serving on the RLPOA board, I’m also Chairman of the Architectural Supervisory Committee in our home community of North Oaks, MN.

In my spare time I enjoy my home (and cabin) renovation design consulting where I help clients reimagine their living spaces. I bring over 40 years of interdisciplinary design experience to renovation and new construction projects. I’m fueled by a love for the craft, and a commitment to designing functional and beautiful homes. I design residential renovation projects that include kitchens, bathrooms, exteriors, space planning and much more. Retirement is awesome!
