All About David Rutt

My wife Charlene and I bought our cabin on the SW end of Hinton Bay in 2013.  We have two daughters that were age 6 & 8 when we bought our cabin so it’s been awesome for our family to be here as they are growing up.

We spend a ton of time at the lake during the summer and other parts of the year as our schedules allow.

Oddly enough it wasn’t until after Charlene and I were married a while that we realized that we both love slalom skiing - in 2009 we bought a Ski Nautique!  We would load up the family, dog, what seemed like all our belongings and make the 4-hour trip to Minocqua to rent a cabin for a week.  While spending time on Lake Kawaguesaga on the Minocqua chain was great and reminiscent of my youth (having grown up in Wausau), the journey to have lake time was just too far.  Luckily a good high school friend had a cabin on Spider Lake where we were introduced to the Hayward area properly and the search began.  Spider Lake was out because skiing is only allowed from 11-2, Whitefish was nice but too small, after 2 rentals on Round we were in love and the deal was done.  Hinton Bay is the perfect waterski bay, we also love to fish, paddleboard, swim, tube, snow ski, ice skate, and snowmobile, all of it - bring it on.

I began paying attention to the Milfoil problem a few years back, especially when we started to use DASH in Hinton Bay as a control method.  Jim Nancekevill and I had helped work with the DNR years earlier to get the RLPOA’s most recent grant.  That grant relied heavily on DASH use so we experimented in Round Lakes with DASH and found the control method to be ineffective for large scale control.  I began to raise money from neighbors in 2019 with the goal to specifically help with Milfoil treatment.

Many neighbors stepped up and contributed, so joining the RLPOA board made a lot of sense and I joined the board in 2019.

I have a degree in Economics from the University of Minnesota, we currently live in Minneapolis where we own and operate a clothing company, Fawbush’s in the Galleria, and also online at www.fawbushs.com  I hope to continue to work on combating the milfoil challenge, raising awareness, raising money, and helping to do whatever I can for the betterment of Round Lakes.  I’m grateful to be working with the entire RLPOA board and especially Jim Nancekevill as he and I chair the AIS activities for RLPOA.  See you on the water!
